Alus Richardson, 88, a former teacher in Pikeville, died unexpectedly on Sunday.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Apex First Baptist Church in Apex.
Mr. Richardson was a graduate of North Carolina A&T College in Greensboro. He taught school in several school districts and the North Carolina Department of Corrections. He was a skilled carpenter and brick mason and was a member of Greater Christian Chapel Church in Apex.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daris Richardson of Apex; one daughter, Carolyn Richardson of Philadelphia, Pa.; four sons, Ellis Richardson and Ronald Richardson of Apex, Donald Richardson of Washington, D.C., and Alton Richardson of Greenville, N.C.; and three sisters, one brother and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The viewing hours will be tonight from 7 until 9 at Great Christian Chapel Church, 8013 Humie Olive Road, Apex.
