MOUNT OLIVE -- Don Henry Cooke, 75, of 3885 Emmaus Church Road, died Sunday at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville.

Mr. Cooke was born May 4, 1930, in Wayne County to the late Walter Hardy Cooke and Annie Carraway Cooke. He had worked with Thurston Motor Lines.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Cooke is survived by his daughters, Pam Strickland of Mount Olive, Doris Schneck of Washington, D.C., Judy Denise Smith of Goldsboro and Norma Jean Davis of Goldsboro; his son, Don Elliott Cooke of California; his grandchildren, Andrea Patterson and husband, Woody, Jessie Strickland, Dwight "Dusty" Strickland, Don Allen Cooke, Samantha Ponce and husband, Jose, Sarah Pelt, Anne Marie Schneck, Jennifer Schneck, Richard "Dickie" Schneck and Daniel Leathers; his great-grandchildren, Dwayne Strickland, Makaylah Patterson, Kylie Patterson, Jonah Patterson, Dakota Spence, Stephanie Pelt, Denise Cooke, Manuel Garcia and Alex Ponce; his brothers, Vernon Ray Cooke of Goldsboro and Frank Cooke and wife, Clara of Washington, N.C.; his sisters-in-law, Ruby Cooke; and his son-in-law, Dwight Strickland.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, George Cooke and Walter Cooke; his sister, Katie Best; and his grandson, Dwayne Grady.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery, and other times at 130 Meadow Street, Goldsboro.
