ASHEBORO -- Nellie Jean Dorsett Richardson, mother of Pamela Strickland of Goldsboro, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Cross Road Retirement Community.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Flag Springs United Methodist church. The Reverends Billy Jarrett and Hank Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Richardson was a native of Randolph County and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Smith Dorsett. She was a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church, where she was church treasurer for 35 years and was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker and was the widow of C. Leonard Richardson. She enjoyed crocheting and making wedding cakes.

She is also survived by two other daughters, Karen Miller of Maryville, Mo., and Doreen Castelloe of Asheboro; one son, Colon L. Richardson Jr. of Asheboro; one sister, Mildred Stuart of Asheboro; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m., and other times at the residence.
