CLAYTON -- Mary Gwyn Rhodes, 70, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at The Laurels of Forest Glenn in Garner.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. The Rev. James West and Dr. Hal Bilbo will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Rhodes was the daughter of the late Emmett and Ethel Kelly of Mount Olive. She graduated from B.F. Grady High School and attended East Carolina University and Johnston Community College. She retired from the North Carolina Department of Revenue with 20 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Women's Missionary Union director, L.L.L. Club president and as GA and Acteen leader.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William T. Rhodes of Clayton; three sons, Gary Rhodes of Raleigh, Phil Rhodes of Raleigh and David Rhodes of Clayton; one daughter, Brenda Tannery of Garner; four sisters, Anise McKee of Mount Olive, Patsy Summerlin and Lovey Walton of Clinton and Jeanette Evans of Raleigh; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at McLaurin Funeral Home.
