ALPHA R. SIMMONS
Alpha Bell Bannerman Royall Simmons, 62, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Union Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ.
She was the daughter of the late Deacon Judson and Minnie Bell Bannerman Royall and was the widow of John "Bud" Simmons. She attended schools in Johnston and Wayne counties and was employed for many years in the child-care business. She was president of the usher board at Prayer of Prayer Deliverance Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Anita Vanessa Simmons of Mount Olive; two sons, David Earl Simmons of Goldsboro and Daniel Dayshawn Simmons of Mount Olive; six sisters, Janie Johnson and Elizabeth Poles of Philadephia, Pa., Judy Gaskins of Chester, Pa., Thelma Atkinson of Princeton, Edna King of Goldsboro and Dolly Vinson of Smithfield; and four brothers, Judson Royall Jr. and Larry Royall of Philadelphia, Pa., Kenneth Royall of Selma and Donnie Royall of Smithfield.
A viewing will be held today from 1 until 6 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home and the family will be there to receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at 503 Third St., Goldsboro.
