BERTA BECTON WETHINGTON
NEW BERN -- Berta Becton Wethington, 84, of Croatan Village, formerly of 115 Clarks Road, died Friday at Craven Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Clarks Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Mitchell Wethington, and one son, Mitchell Lee Wethington.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston. The Rev. T.C. West will officiate. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Wethington Simmons and husband, W.G. Simmons of Seven Springs; one son, Howard Beck Wethington and wife, Constance of Fuquay Varina; six grandchildren, Michelle Wetherington, Mitch Wethington, Suzanne Kemp, Jan Rhem Johnson and husband, Matthew, Gus Simmons and wife, Molly, and Pepper Ann White and husband, Gaylord Lee White Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Amy Sutton, Cody Sutton, Elise McKenna Day, Sara Kemp, Cohen Rhem, Brie Rhem, Gaylord Lee White III and Stephanie Simmons.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 until 9 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
Howard-Carter & Stroud Funeral Home is in charge of the service.
