NANCY D. EDWARDS

SNOW HILL -- Mrs. Nancy Dawson Edwards, 97, of Snow Hill, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2005.

The daughter of Lemuel Dawson Jr. and Nicy Albritton Dawson, she was born November 16, 1907, at the Dawson home place in the Bullhead Community of Greene County.

Together with her second husband, the late Lynn Warren Edwards, she operated Edwards Funeral Home in Snow Hill and continued to play a significant role in its operation for many years following his death. Mrs. Edwards started Greene County Florist in the early 1940's and personally operated the business for more than fifty years.

"Miss Nancy", as she was affectionately known by most, took great pride in the flower arrangements and sprays that she designed. Many sought her floral talents and advice for countless weddings, funerals and other occasions.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of the First Baptist Church of Snow Hill.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edwards will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Dr. Gene Martin officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.

In addition to Mr. Edwards, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her first husband, Lowell Godwin Taylor, her youngest son, James Godwin Taylor and daughter-in-law, Jean Sykes Taylor.

Her surviving family includes her son, John Lemuel Taylor and wife, Lynanne, of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Connie T. Hill and husband, Howard, Johnny Taylor and wife, Sue, all of Snow Hill, and Lowell Taylor and wife, Lori, of Williamston; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Hill, Trey Taylor and wife, Tracy, Nancy Hill, Jesse Taylor and Dawson Taylor; and a longtime caregiver, Ann Denton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
