Mrs. Irene Davies "Rene" Tredway, 71, of 200 White Oak Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Tredway was born in Ipswich, England, and had retired as the head housekeeper for Kirkwood Retirement Community. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a caregiver to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Tredway is survived by her husband, TSgt. (Retired) Daniel B. Tredway; her daughters, Teresa T. Gillis of Charlotte and Sharen T. Corbett of Goldsboro; her son, Steven Wayne Tredway of Raleigh; her brothers, George Davies and Arthur Davies, both of Ispwich, England; her sister, Margaret Davies of Ispwich, England; and her grandchildren, David Brian Gillis of Charlotte, Ryan Michael Gillis of Los Angeles, Calif., Kenneth Joseph "Joe" Corbett of Goldsboro and Michelle Corbett Pearson of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Davies.

Memorials in her memory may be made to WAGES - Meals on Wheels, 601 E. Royall Ave., Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her residence.
