HELEN S. BELL

MOUNT OLIVE -- Helen Sutton Bell, 89, of 504 North Center St., died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

The funeral will be held by the graveside on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate.

Mrs. Bell was born in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Sutton Sr. and Effie King Sutton and the widow of Raymond Norwood Ball. She was a retired school teacher with 30 years of service with the Wayne County School System. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Olive where she was a past deaconess and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles N. "Tinker" Bell Sr. and Susie T. Bell of Mount Olive; a sister, Evelyn S. Long of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Tina Bell Phillips and husband, Michael, Regina Bell Godwin and husband Donald, and Charles N. "Chuck" Bell Jr., all of Mount Olive; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley Wiggins, Matthew Wiggins, Mindy Godwin, Chelsea Phillips, Matthew Phillips and Joseph Phillips.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joy Bell Wiggins; a sister, Mildred S. Caison, and a brother, Charles Thomas Sutton Jr.

Friends will be received at the Tinker Bell residence, 506 North Center St., Mount Olive.
