DONALD PIKE
Donald Stone Pike, a resident of Magnolia Glen Retirement Community in Raleigh, N.C., and formerly of Goldsboro, N.C., died peacefully on May 15th, 2005, surrounded by his family after a brief struggle with cancer.
Don was born on May 5th, 1930, the youngest son of James David Pike Sr. and Dora Westmoreland Pike. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife of 46 years, Dottie Lipscomb Pike.
Don was born in Goldsboro, N.C., where he graduated from Goldsboro High School. He was president of his senior class and awarded the Eagle Scout badge. He graduated from NCSU, a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, with a degree in engineering. Don served as a second lieutenant in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He began his professional career in Durham with Wright Machinery (Sperry Rand) and later joined Wheat First Securities and Interstate Johnson Lane as a stock broker.
He was a past president of Walnut Creek Country Club, a board member of Goldsboro Country Club, past president of the Kiwanis Club, and a member of the Kroda, Bacchus and Goldsboro Cotillion clubs. Don will always be remembered as a loving and patient man, quick with a joke and an encouraging word. He was an avid golfer who loved life and loved to entertain family and friends on the piano with his favorite jazz tunes.
Don was loved and doted on by his three daughters and four granddaughters, which he affectionately referred to as "his harem". He truly enriched the lives of all who knew and loved him and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his daughters, Robin Pike Zevenhuizen and husband Charles; Betsy Pike Ramsey and husband Joe of Raleigh, N.C.; Caroline Pike Terrett and husband Ken of Cary, N.C.; his beloved granddaughters, Anna Zeven-huizen, Caroline Zeven-huizen, Ella Ann Ramsey and Isabel Stone Terrett. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, J.D. and Effie Ruth Pike of Goldsboro, NC. A niece, Nancy Pike Wilson and her husband Ross, Four nephews; Jim Pike and his wife Christine, John Pike and his wife Diana, Wes Pike and his wife Donna all of Goldsboro and Chuck Pike and his wife Sally of Topsail Beach, N.C.; and an aunt, Minnie Lou Mayberry of New Rochelle, N.Y.
The family would also like to thank Verlinza Lucas, Jarsette Denning and Shawn Denning for all of their loving care and kindness.

A Celebration and Thanksgiving for Don Pike's life will be at 11 a.m. on May 17th, 2005, at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, followed by the burial at Willow Dale Cemetery.
The Pike family will welcome family and friends in celebrating Don's life at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.D Pike, Jr. 1502 East Walnut Street, Goldsboro, following the service.
