Rosetta Smith Rose, 92, a resident of the Sterling House, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mrs. Rose was born in Wayne County and was the daughter of the late John Henry Burtus Smith and Nanny Smith. She was married to the late Paul Rose and was very active in her church and community before her declining health.

She had been a member at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years and been active in music and administration at the church, serving as the church organist and pianist for over 45 years.

Mrs. Rose had been a member of the Goldsboro Rescue Squad Auxiliary and earned the Grace Sigmon Memorial Award for being an outstanding rescue squad auxiliary member in the state of North Carolina. She had been a member of the Extension Homemakers and had served as an international leader.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Rose of Baton Rouge, La., and Ceddie Rose of The Colony, Texas; two daughters, Mary Etta Britt of Cape Carteret and Sarah Rose Green of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Brian Rose, Mark Rose, Judy Smith, Selena Dewey, Mike Green, Paul Rose, Lisa Sullivan, Ryan Hester and Carla Hester; and her great-grandchildren, Kali Smith, Brandi Smith, Eric Rose, Ronnie Rose, Cori Dewey, Paul Sullivan, Brianna Hester, Mitchell Dewey, Kennedi Rose, Ashlee Jordyn Rose, Dawson Wilson and Blakely Hester.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Polly Purnell, Buddy Smith, Shorty Smith and Esther Boyd; and her granddaughter, Christy Wilson.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times the home Sarah Green, 1004 Gardner Manor Drive, Goldsboro.
