HERMAN BEST JR.

Herman "Bud" Best Jr., of 104 Faith Place, died Wednesday night at his home.

The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rhodes Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Wade Cemetery in Snow Hill.

Mr. Best was the son of Herman Best Sr. and Etta Smith Best. A graduate of Central High School, he served two years in the United States Army, worked as a steam engineer in Boston, and retired as an automobile mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Best of the home; two sons, Donnie Best of Goldsboro and Dexter Best of Durham; two stepsons, Clarence Williams and Cornell Williams of Durham; one daughter, Shirley Williams of Norfolk, Va.; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The wake will be held Sunday from 7 until 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
