Dillard Rudolph Davis, 78, died Saturday night at his home at 549 Big Daddy's Road.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Williams and the Rev. Reynolds Smith officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was a native of Wayne County and was the son of the late Dillard and Sadie Ferrell Davis. He was a member of Free Chapel P.F.W.B. Church. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from Griffin Exterminating.

He is survived by his wife, Dollie Ginn Davis; one daughter, Sheryl Holland and husband Tony of Wilmington; two sons, Gerald Davis of Pikeville and Glen Davis and wife Nell of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Tonya Holland and fiancée Chris Dunphy of Concord, Jennifer Dreyer and husband Julian of Asheville, Chris Burrell of Washington, D. C., Justin Davis and Taylor Davis of Goldsboro; one great-grandson, Luca Dreyer; one sister, Linda Smith and husband Luther of Goldsboro; six brothers, Leslie E. Davis and wife Grace, Elmer Ray Davis and wife Kathryn, Royce Davis and wife Evangeline, Dearl Davis and wife Glenda all of Goldsboro, Kenneth Davis of Princeton, and Connie W. Davis and wife Helene of Wilson; and one brother-in-law, Riley Anderson of Goldsboro.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Velda D. Anderson.

The family will receive friends following the service tonight and at other times they will be at the residence.
