ZEBULON -- Shirley Heath Lockamy, 69, ascended to heaven on April 7, 2005, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C.

She is survived by her loving companion, Dr. Preston Bethea Jr. of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Yolonda D. Lockamy of Mitchellville, Md.; her mother, Eliza Todd Heath of the home; one sister, Vernal Heath Best of Goldsboro, N.C.; one brother, Charles (Bonnie) Heath Jr. of Knightdale, N.C.; two adopted sisters, Pauline Heath Todd of Zebulon, N.C., and Eloise C. Hillard of Clayton, N.C.; one adopted brother, Dr. James Wallace (Dewanna) Parham of Zebulon, N.C.; three nieces, Chryste D. Best, Alexandria, Va., Verna P. Best of Goldsboro, N.C., and Keyetta Mangum of Wendell, N.C.; one nephew, Shawn (Jennifer) Heath of Las Vegas, Nev.; special cousin, Brenda Todd Holden ; and her goddaughter, Nekshekia Todd.

Shirley was an educator in both the Johnston and Nash County School Systems for more than 30 years. She worked faithfully and held numerous offices as a member of Zebulon First Baptist Church and served her community through various outreach ministries and organizations.

Visitation will be held at William Toney's Funeral Home, 216 E. Barbee Street, Zebulon, N.C., on Saturday, April 9, 2005, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a wake from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Homegoing celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Zebulon First Baptist Church, 304 E. Barbee Street, Zebulon, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Rex Cancer Center in memory of Shirley H. Lockamy.
