ALEXANDER B. HENDRICK, JR.

Alexander Baskem Hendrick Jr., 81, of 1100 N. Jefferson St., died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with Horace Modlin officiating.

Mr. Hendrick was born in Mecklenberg County, Virginia, to the late Alexander B. Hendrick Sr. and Maggie Reese Hendrick.

He is survived by three sons, Morris Hendrick of Goldsboro, Kenneth Hendrick of Goldsboro and Lonnie Leopard of Stantonsburg; three daughters, Jane Lancaster of Pikeville, Betty Corbett of Goldsboro and Gale Hendrick of Roanoke Rapids; one sister, Gladys Adams of South Hill, Va.; five brothers, Eff Hendrick and James Hendrick of South Hill, Va., Herman Hendrick of Petersburg, Va., Robert Hendrick of Richmond, Va., and Charles Hendrick of Petersburg, Va.; a special friend, Catherine Turnage of Goldsboro; and eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Bell Ritter of Richmond, Va.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service, and other times at the home of Jane Lancaster, 208 Mt. Carmel Church Road.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
