ARLETHA McGOWAN
TURKEY -- Arletha M. McGowan, 56, of 177 Wilmington Road, died Monday at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be held Saturday at noon at James Kenan High School. The Rev. Billy Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the Devotional Gardens.
Mrs. McGowan was the daughter of the late James E. Lowe Sr. and Alice G. Lowe. She was a member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Golden Jewel Chapter #17, and Daughters of Isis, Mizpah Court #79.
She is survived by her husband, Woodell McGowan Sr. of the home; three sons, Woodell McGowan Jr. of Turkey, Melvin Smith of Philadelphia, Pa., and Michael McGowan of Laurel, Md.; three daughters, Lakeisha Jones of Mount Olive, Marria McGowan of the home and Olymphia T. Brown of Wallace; two brothers, Dr. James E. Lowe Jr. of Fayetteville and Larry D. Lowe of New York; one sister, Annie Pearl Edwards of New York; and 14 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. at St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church in Warsaw.
The viewing will be on Friday from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home in Mount Olive.
