HERMAN BENSON

KENANSVILLE -- Herman Benson, 84, died Thursday at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

He was born Oct. 16, 1920, to the late Joseph Jethro Benson and wife, Minnie Smith Benson, of Duplin County. Mr Benson was also preceded in death by four brothers, Archie David Benson, Johnny P. Benson, Velmon Benson, and Norman Benson; two sisters, Ethel Benson Taylor and Evelyn Benson Quinn.

He was a member of Pearsall Free Will Baptist Church and loved to hunt fox, deer, and quail.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Dunn Benson of the home; three sons, Bobby Gerald Benson and wife, Carolyn, Lenwood Benson and wife, Kay, all of Kenansville, and Kenneth Benson and wife, Brenda, of Kinston; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Community Chapel, Community Funeral Home, 1654 Highway 24/50 E., Warsaw. The Rev. David Thick and the Rev. Joe Crumpler will officiate. Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens, Highway 24/50 E. Warsaw.

Visitation was held Saturday evening from 7 until 9 at Community Funeral Home, 1654 Highway 24/50 E., Warsaw. Family and friends will be received at other times at the home.
