STEVEN METCALF

Steven Lamar Metcalf, 56, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

No matter how difficult the fight was for Steven, he would not give up and he always kept a positive outlook and never complained.

A native of Pensacola, Fla., he was the son of Ardell Oslin Metcalf of Bemidji, Minn., and the late P.L. Metcalf. He was retired from the United States Air Force and worked in Quality Control at Waukesha until his health declined.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Weaver officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Sullivan Metcalf; his daughters, Stephanie Metcalf and Amber Jo Metcalf of the home; his mother-in-law, Tiny Sullivan of Goldsboro; and his sister, Sandy Dewitt of Pensacola, Fla.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.

The family will receive friends Wednesday (today) from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
