BETTIE WHITFIELD
Bettie Jane Carraway Whitfield, 71, of 121 Boykin Road, died Saturday at Britthaven of Goldsboro.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Greater St. John Free Will Baptist Church on Mitchell Road, near Dudley. The Rev. William Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Whitfield graduated from Carver High School in Mount Olive in 1952 and was retired from O'Berry Center with 29 years of service. She served as secretary of Greater St. John Church and was a member of the choir.
She is survived by three sons, William Donnell Whitfield, Gerald Glenn Whitfield and Jerry Dexter Whitfield of Dudley; one brother, William Carraway of Goldsboro; one sister, Beulah Coley of Dudley; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The viewing hours will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday at Rhodes Funeral Home, Goldsboro.
