SELMA -- Ella Garner Flowers, 87, of Woodruff Road, died Wednesday.

The funeral will be held today at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. The Rev. Charles Nichols and the Rev. Willard Brown will officiate. Burial will be on Saturday morning at 10 in Selma Memorial Gardens.

A native of Johnston County, Mrs. Flowers was the daughter of the late John Malachi and Celia Holland Garner and was the widow of Gilliam Henderson Flowers. She was employed in the WIC unit at Johnston County Health Department through the Triangle J-RTP Program for Senior Citizens and was a member of Carter's Chapel Baptist Church.

Her survivors include one daughter, Hazel Flowers Holt of Selma; two sons, Thomas Flowers Sr. of Goldsboro and Louis Eskal Flowers of Carthage; one brother, Robert Garner of Micro; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service tonight.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 4527 Buffalo Road, Selma, N.C., 27576.
