Pandora Lee Whitley Wooten, 84, of 515 South Leslie St., died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First African Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Wooten was born in Wayne County on Feb. 3, 1921, to the late Henry and Penniah Whitley. She was the widow of the Rev. John Wooten. She graduated from Dillard High School in 1938 and was active in the Alumni Association of Goldsboro.

She is survived by one son, Tyrone Wooten (Jacquelyn) of Cary; a grandson, Tyrone Jacquan Wooten; five sisters, Lillian Whitley, Deloris Riley of Chester, Pa., Gwendolyn Carr of Goldsboro, Rachel Vinson of St. Pauls, and Barbara Cottrell of Buffalo Lake, N.C.; and five brothers, Josiah Whitley of Dudley, Henry Whitley of Cary, Dock Whitley of Fayetteville and Jehoram Whitley of Claymont, Del.

The viewing will be on Friday from 3 until 9 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel.

A wake will be held at First African Baptist Church on Saturday from noon until 1 p.m.
