JAMES H. TAYLOR

James Henry Taylor, 69, formerly of Goldsboro, died Thursday, Feb. 24, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. Bishop Alton Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park North.

Mr. Taylor was born in Goldsboro on Nov. 17, 1935, to the late Mary E. Taylor. He attended Wayne County Public Schools and served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Holt Taylor; six daughters, Wanda G. Cox-White, Sharshonna Boyd and Tesa Wilson of Louisville, Ky., Yarsmon Adams of Durham, Robin Betts of Raleigh and Monique E. Taylor of Houston, Texas; two sons, Granthia Holt of Washington, D.C., and Anthony Kiver of Louisville, Ky.; four brothers, Willie Taylor, Boylan Taylor, Terry Taylor and Larry Taylor of Goldsboro; three sisters, Bettie Brinson and Louann Oxendine of Goldsboro and Marjorie Middleton of Winston-Salem; and 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel.
