WILLIAM MARTIN

WARSAW -- Retired Captain William Noble Martin, 96, died Saturday at his home.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Golden Grove Cemetery in Kenansville.

Mr. Martin was born on Nov. 13, 1908, to the late William Thomas Martin and Cleo West Martin of Muscogee County, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was awarded the Bronze Star for participating in the invasion of Iwo Jima.

He is survived by two sons, William Noble "Bill" Martin Jr. and wife Jean and Earl Penny Martin, all of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, William Noble "Billy" Martin III and wife Nancy, David Lee Martin and Elizabeth April Martin; and three great-grandchildren, Willi, Derek and Emmy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delfry Penny Martin, and a grandson, Ted Martin.

Community funeral Home is serving the family.
