WALTER UZZELL
Walter Franklin Uzzell, 82, of 5487 Hwy. 70 East, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was to be held today at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer officiating. Burial was to be in the Uzzell Family Cemetery near the home.
Mr. Uzzell was born in Wayne County to the late William Thomas Uzzell and Melissa Grant Uzzell. A 1942 graduate of New Hope High School, he was a farmer and a lover of the land and was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Parks Uzzell, his son, Thomas Parks Uzzell, and his grandsons, Thomas Dewey Uzzell and Erwin Dare Uzzell.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lou Gurley Uzzell; and his brothers, William Green Uzzell and Leonard Kermit Uzzell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Adamsville Baptist Church, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; or to the Goldsboro Rescue Squad, c/o Blair Tyndall, 134 N. John Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
The family was to receive friends at the funeral home today from 1 until 2 p.m., and other times at the residence.
