BOBBY NORWOOD SR.

Bobby Earl Norwood Sr., 70, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

He was born in Emporia, Va., to the late John Franklin and Janie Williams Norwood. A veteran of the United States Army, he served with the 101st Airborne and served during the Korean War. He retired from McFatter Woodworks with 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Neil Norwood.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy G. Norwood; three sons, Bobby Norwood Jr. of Kenansville, Randy Norwood of Warsaw and Tony Norwood of Goldsboro; one daughter, Jan Barber of Pikeville; two brothers, Billy Jearl Norwood of Chester, Va., and John Franklin Norwood of Williamsburg, Va.; a half sister, Peggy Jane Norwood of Richmond, Va.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Larry V. Turlington Jr. will officiate.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the residence at 105 Wilderness Drive, Pikeville.
