MARLENE CLIFFORD

LEXINGTON -- Marlene Gail Speece Clifford, 39, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at Thomasville Medical Center in Thomasville.

She was married to Phillip Edward Clifford, son of Fred and Irene Clifford of Goldsboro, and was an elementary music teacher with Davidson County School System. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Thomasville and served as the church pianist.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, J.R. and Marie Capps Speece of Union Grove, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Park Place Baptist Church. Interment, which will be private, will be on Sunday afternoon at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Grove.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, and other times at the residence at 246 Brentwood Drive in Lexington and at her parents' home, 1886 W. Memorial Highway, Union Grove.

The family requests no flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to Park Place Baptist Church for the support of the children she sponsored through World Vision, 201 Kern St., P.O. Box 1108, Thomasville, N.C., 27361-1108.
