HORACE JACKSON

KINSTON -- Horace Thomas Jackson, stepfather of Gary Kornegay and Jerry Robert Holland of Goldsboro, died Sunday.

He was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II, and a retired mechanic from DuPont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Dean Jackson and Lanie Rebecca Cummings Jackson; his first wife, Donnie Jackson

In addition to his stepsons, Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Annie Elizabeth Jackson, of the home; three daughters, Gloria Parrish AND Faye Loftin of Kinston, and Brenda Trott of Hampstead, N.C.; two stepsons, Gary Kornegay and Jerry Robert Holland of Goldsboro; two brothers, Ralph Jackson of Minnetonka, Minn., and Lynn Jackson of Charlotte; three sisters, Mae Raynor of Beulaville, Margaret Blount of Magnolia and Emily Coble of Greensboro; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four step grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday night at 7 in the chapel of Howard-Carter Funeral Home. The Rev. Glassie Locklear will officiate. Burial will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Tuesday night and at other times at the residence at 216 Collier Loftin Road, Kinston.

Visitation will be held after the funeral and other times at the home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Rivermont Baptist Church, 2478 U.S. 258 S., Kinston, N.C. 28501.
