PIKEVILLE -- Janie Dawson Fields, 77, of 3260 Big Daddy's Road, died Friday at her home.

Mrs. Fields was born in Lenoir County to the late Paul and Nora Lee Taylor Dawson. She was the widow of James Wesley Fields. Mrs. Fields was a member of Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held today at 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carolyn Woriax officiating. Interment will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Al Sullivan officiating.

Mrs. Fields is survived by her daughter, Judy Salamone and husband, Lenord of Grifton; her sons, James D. Fields of LaGrange, Paul D. Fields and wife, Connie of Ellerbe, and David O. Fields and wife, Sherry of the home; her sisters, Ella Jones of Chattanooga, TN and Hilda Alphin and husband, Harvey of Kinston; her brother, Tommy Dawson and wife, Sheryl of Kinston; her sister-in-law, Edna Fields of Snow Hill; her grandchildren, Paul Fields, Dora Smith, Barbie Gurley, Brian Beck, Michael Beck, Ashley Floyd, Jessica Hill, Bobby Narron, Wayne Narron, Joshua Draughon, Denise Draughon, Steven Salamone, D.J. Salamone, Danielle Louis and Kristina Salamone; twenty-three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends today following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of David and Sherry Fields, 3260 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, or at the home of James Dwight Fields, 132 May Road, LaGrange.
