JAMES JOHNSON

James Johnson, 72, of 711 Franklin St., died Friday at his residence.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at White Oak Grove Baptist Church on Big Daddy's Road. Elder George Wiggins will officiate. Burial will be in New Spruill Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Earl Johnson and MayBelle Wooten Lewis. He attended Wayne County Public Schools and retired from United Van Lines.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Lucille Johnson of the home; six sons, James Calvin Johnson, Damon Teachey and Terry Holland of Goldsboro, Germain Robinson of West Virginia, Darrell Webb of Greensboro and Jamie Jackson of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Gladys Johnson and Faye E. Harrison of Goldsboro and Wanda Sutton of Dudley; three brothers, Johnnie Gray Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Anthony Johnson of Sheraton Hill, Pa., and Hughmiller Dixon of Wilson; four sisters, Essie Pearl Jones of Goldsboro, Jennifer Johnson of Princeton, Doris Sauls of Wilson and Mabel Robinson of Chester, Pa; 29 grandchildren including Shamika Swinson and John Williams, both of whom he reared; six godchildren, Edith Teachey, Shaun Teachey, Yvette Teachey, Kevin Teachey, Marty Teachey and Marissa Davis; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The wake will be held Friday night from 7 until 8 at Rhodes Funeral Home, Goldsboro.
