PIKEVILLE -- Dollie Mae Howell Crawford, 83, of 1417 Pikeville-Princeton Road, died Thursday at Britthaven of Smithfield.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating. Burial will be in Pikeville Cemetery.

Mrs. Crawford was a native of Wayne County, was the daughter of the late Charlie and Smithie Davis Howell, and was married to the late John Lee Crawford. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Her survivors include one daughter, Leigh Ann Croom, and her husband, Herman Croom Jr., of Pikeville; one brother, Quentin Howell, and his wife, Cindy, of Pikeville; three grandchildren, David Croom, and his wife, Beth; Edward Croom and his wife, Phyllis; and Kathryn C. Farrior and her husband, Buck, all of Pikeville; and six great grandchildren, Carrie and Casey Croom, Philip and Jonathan Croom and Jaclyn and Alan Farrior.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cornelia Lancaster and Colleen Jones, and four brothers, Talmadge Howell, Norman Howell, Cebie Howell and Clifton Howell.

Pallbearers will be Philip Croom, Charles Aycock, Ray Biggerstaff, Bobby Suggs, R.B. Crawford and Worth Overman Jr.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1100 Pikeville-Princeton Road, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Leigh Ann and Herman Croom, 1385 Pikeville-Princeton Road.
