KATIE H. HILL

Katie Belle Herring Hill, 90, died Monday at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation of Mount Olive.

She was born in Duplin County to the late Claude and Bessie Alphin Herring and was married to the late Erving James Hill. She was a member of Brocks Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday School for 25 years, and was a licensed real estate broker and insurance broker.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Temple Whitted.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Delano R. and Eva Hill of Mount Olive and Thomas F. and Anita Hill of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one brother, William "Bill" Herring of Spring Lake; seven grandchildren, Amy Whitted Wade, Laura Strickland, Tony Hill, Dwayne Hill, Tom Hill Jr., Cheri Cruz, and Nicole Hill; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Rev. Marvin McCoy Brock will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and the burial will be afterward at Wayne Memorial Park.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Delano and Eva Hill, 442 Rones Chapel Road, Mount Olive.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Shirley Temple Hill Whitted Library Endowment at Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson St., Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
