MILDRED RHODES

Mildred Body Rhodes, 78, of 709 S. Slocumb St., died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bear Creek Headquarters Building, 1800 S. Slocumb St. Pastor Daryl Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Rhodes was the wife of J.B. Rhodes and daughter of the late Will and Nora Jackson Body of the Parkstown community. She graduated from Central High School and attended Fayetteville State University, where she studied to be a teacher. She served as organist and health-temperance leader at Mt. Zion Seventh-day Adventist Church, which she joined at an early age. As a master floral designer, she operated Mildred's Florist, using her skills to enhance her husband's funeral business.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Jimmy Bernardo Rhodes, J.B. Rhodes Jr. and Norman Rhodes of Goldsboro; two daughters, Tawanta Platt of Mount Olive and Dr. Camelia Rhodes Smith of Washington, D.C.; four brothers, Robert Body and Alton Body of Goldsboro, Malichi body and Samuel Body of Parkstown; one sister, Evelyn Body Williams of Washington, D.C.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The viewing hours will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday at Mt. Zion Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Parkstown community.

Arrangements are being handled by Rhodes Funeral Home and local funeral directors.
