HENRY L. GINN
PIKEVILLE -- Henry Lee Ginn, 85, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Mr. Ginn was a native of Wayne County and was the son of the late Willie S. and Annie Newsome Ginn. He served in the U.S. Army, 14th Calvary, during World War II and was a retired farmer.
The funeral was held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Fort Run Pentecostal Frere Will Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Reverends Larry Turlington, Tom Dorman and Cindy Bartlett officiated. Committal services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Hill Family Cemetery, with Rev. Turlington and the Rev. Ralph Ginn officiating.
Mr. Ginn was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Ginn; his only grandson, Alan Brown; sisters, Laura Ellen Head and Eva Smith; and brother, William Ginn.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Dixon Ginn of the home; a daughter, Connie Ginn Brown and husband, Scott, of Goldsboro; a son, the Reverend Ralph Ginn and wife, Evelyn, of Goldsboro; stepchildren, Larry Shingleton and wife, Colleen, of Pikeville, Cathy Walker and husband, Brantley, of Pikeville, Johnny Shingleton and wife, Debbie, of Goldsboro, Betty Mailing and husband, Paul, of Charlotte, Penny Harris and husband, Willie, of Snow Hill and Michael Shingleton of Pikeville; grandchildren, Lisa Ward, Leslee Brown, Cindy Bartlett and husband, Frankie, and Miriam Elizabeth Ginn all of Goldsboro; great-grandchildren, Eric Bartlett and Allisa Ward; sisters, Louise Parks of Goldsboro and Myrtie Cook and husband, Donald of Mt. Olive; sister-in-law, Mattie Ginn of Goldsboro; several step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Saturday in the church fellowship hall following the service, and other times at the residence, 1183 Bullhead Road, Pikeville.
