W. DOUG COLEY

MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for William Douglas "Doug" Coley, 54, of 220 Edgecombe Drive, Reiglewood, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Mr. Coley died unexpectedly on Sunday.

A native of Mount Olive, he owned and operated an 18-wheeler and was known to his trucking friends as The Windjammer.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Carter Coley; two daughters, Robin Goodson, and her husband, Shane, of Mount Olive, and Angela Coley of Greenville; three stepsons, Timothy Gurganus and his wife, Anita, of Richlands, Stewart Mills and his wife, Cressie, of Chadbourn, and Staff Sgt. Gregory Mills and his wife, Michelle, of Warner-Robbins, Ga.; a brother, Ralph Coley, and his wife, Frances, of Pine Level; three sisters, Rosemond C. Smith, and her husband, Buster, of Faison, Diana C. Carlson of Mount Olive, and Barbara C. Ward of Calypso; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Joyce Goodwin Coley; a granddaughter, Nealy Goodson; and two special brothers-in-law, Mike Ward and Thomas Carter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Tyndall Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Diana Carlson, 404 W. Station St., Mount Olive.
