PHILATHEA D. ALLEN

MAGNOLIA -- Philathea Dixon Allen, 45, of 440 Leonard Rich Road, died Friday at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mrs. Allen was a retired educator as a guidance counselor for the Duplin County Public School System. She was also a licensed Minister of the Gospel for the United Holiness Church of America Inc. Association.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the St. Peter United Holy Church on Sandy Street. Burial will follow in the Dixon family cemetery on Leonard Rich Road. The Rev. Woodrow Grandy Jr will officiate.

She is survived by her husband, Minister Alfred Allen of Magnolia; two sons, Daniel Dixon of Greensboro, and Alfred Allen Jr of Magnolia; her mother, Annie Sloan Dixon of Magnolia; four brothers, Owen Dixon of Charlotte, Dennis Dixon of Dudley, Sampson Dixon of Newport News, Va., and Bruce Dixon III of Concord.

A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 until 7 at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 472 Wells Town Road, in Rose Hill.
