LAWRENCE DAUGHTRY JR

The Rev. Thomas Lawrence Daughtry Jr., 79, of 1010 Evergreen Ave., died Monday at Western Wake Medical Center in Cary.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Thomas Lawrence Daughtry Sr. and Carrie Tyndall Daughtry. Rev. Daughtry served in the United States Army during the Battle at Normandy. He served as the Hospitality Consultant for the Department of Community Colleges, and also served as a Chaplain for Wayne Memorial Hospital and the Disabled American Veterans. For many years, Rev. Daughtry served as pastor of area churches.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Turlington and Ronnie Heath presiding. Burial will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Leonard presiding.

Rev. Daughtry is survived by his wife, Grace Walston Daughtry; his son, Stephen Daryl Daughtry and wife, Janet of Cary; his daughter, Kay McGoldrick of Goldsboro; his brother, Richard "Dick" Daughtry of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Daniel Daughtry and wife, Josie, Adrienne Henry, Margaux Daughtry and Robin Daughtry; and his great-grandsons, Connor Daughtry, Jayson Cannon and Jordan Gayhardt.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Luke Phelps and Ted Phelps; and his sister, Leah Daughtry Sugg.

A viewing will be held Wednesday until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
