SEVEN SPRINGS -- Charles Robert "Bob" Smith, 67, of 5368 N.C. Highway 55 East, died Monday at his home.

Bob was born in Lenoir County to Adele Ivey Carr of Goldsboro and the late Charlie Ivey Smith. He served four years with the United States Air Force. After serving his country, Bob worked with Scott & Jones, Inc., later retiring to pursue his dream of operating his own business, Bob's Garage. Bob's love of agriculture and farming led him to establish Grain Dryer Sales & Service, a business now operated by his son, Bob Ivey. Outside of family and career, Bob had a great love of fishing, hunting and antiques.

A graveside service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from Seven Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating.

In addition to his mother, Bob is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Ann D. Smith; two sons, Bob Ivey Smith and wife, Donna of LaGrange, Tom Smith of Mount Olive; daughter, Kaye S. Davis and husband, Russ of Wilson; two brothers, James B. Smith and wife, Mary Alice of Valle Crucis, Edward Ivey Smith and wife, Janie of Chesapeake, Va.; four grandchildren, Dylan Smith of LaGrange, Wesley Smith of Mount Olive, Callie Davis of Wilson and Kristen Lewis of LaGrange; mother-in-law, Muriel Duncan of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and Don Turner, Charline Kiesel, Tommie and John Monroe, Jamey and Linda Duncan, all of Texas; along with his many dear and devoted friends from AA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the residence.
