ELTON BATTEN
Elton Rudolph "Speed" Batten, 79, of Fremont, died Tuesday.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Black Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Batten is survived by his wife, Alice Jean Gates Batten; a daughter, Karen Lamm of Wilson; a son, Lawrence Batten of Kenly; two stepdaughters, Gloria Jean Ingram of Virginia and Virginia Dale Lynn of Mount Olive; three stepsons, James Ray Ingram of Fremont, Ronnie Joel Ingram of Elm City and Johnny Keith Ingram of Wilson; a sister, Peggy Lamm of Lucama; and five brothers, Thurman Batten and Carroll Batten both of Wilson, Colin Batten of Saratoga, Jack Batten of Virginia and Jimmy Batten of Garner.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service on Thursday, and other times at 6457 Frank Price Church Road.
Arrangements are by Joyner's Funeral Home.
