AGNES CANADY
Agnes Pollock Canady died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Miss Canady was born in Kinston on Aug. 28, 1914, to the late James Herman Canady and Emily Humphries Pollock Canady. After the death of her parents, Miss Canady moved to Goldsboro to be near her family. Because of childhood illness, she was educated at home. She participated in numerous community organizations and was a former member of the North Carolina Museum of History and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. William Hufham presiding. Inturnment will follow in the church Columbarium.
Miss Canady is survived by her sister, Catherine Canady Parker; her nephews, Francis Ogden Parker Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Daniels Parker, of Raleigh, John Burwell Parker and James Canady Parker and wife, Mary Ann Mitchell Parker, of Goldsboro; her niece, Agnes Pollock Parker Woltz and husband, Howard Osler Woltz III, of Mount Airy; her great-nephews and great-nieces, John Burwell Parker Jr., Elizabeth Davis Parker, Catherine Crawley Parker, Wylie Fort Parker II, Louise Elliott Woltz, Charlotte Westbrook Woltz, Elizabeth Parker Woltz and Agnes Reddin Woltz. She is also survived by her dear friend, Barbara Sturm, and a group of faithful caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Francis Ogden Parker.
The family will greet friends at the First Presbyterian Church following the memorial service, and other times at the home of Catherine C. Parker, 1410 E. Mulberry Street, Goldsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium Fund or Beautification Fund, 1101 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
