ROGER GILG

FARO -- Donald Roger Gilg, 72, died Friday at his residence.

He was born in Elizabeth, N.J., to the late Frank and Helen Tatnall Gilg. He graduated from Chatham High School in Chatham, N.J., in 1950 and received a degree in industrial engineering from the Citadel. He was a member of Yelverton United Methodist Church and the Ruritan Club and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Charleston, S.C. His hobbies were working with computers and tending his flowers. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was most recently employed with Lowe's in Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam Van Sant Gilg of the home, three children, one granddaughter and two stepchildren.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Yelverton United Methodist Church. The Rev. William M. Creech will officiate.

Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home in Wilson is in charge of the arrangements.
