JOHN FEILKE

Johann "John" Frederich Feilke, 73, 218 Earl Dr., died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Ordelt Jr. officiating.

Mr. Feilke was born in Bronx, N.Y., Jan. 2, 1931, to the late Otto and Johanna Musbach Feilke. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a Korean War veteran of the Marine Corps. While in service, he received many decorations and medals including the Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Gerda Feilke; two sons, Harold O. Feilke of the home and Robert J. Feilke and wife, Melissa, of Pittsburg, Pa.; a daughter, Ingrid Feilke Francis and husband, Stephen, of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Gertrud Moeller and Inge Just of Germany; six grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, Danielle, Hayley, Rebecca and Robert; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 532 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, 27534, or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, 27533.
