WILLIAM I. SUTTON

LAGRANGE -- William I. Sutton, 94, of 5547 Bear Creek Road, died Wednesday at his home.

The funeral will be held tonight at 7 in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Smeltzer and the Rev. Greg Stancil officiating. A private committal service will be held Friday at Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Sutton was born in Lenoir County to the late Heber and Eliza Herring Sutton. He was a member of White Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church and was a lifelong farmer.

He is survived by his wife of seventy-five years, Belle Newsome Sutton; two daughters, Polly Teel and husband, Bill Teel, of LaGrange, Shelby Lee and husband, Remus Lee, of Kinston; three sons, Lynwood D. Sutton and wife, Doris Ann Sutton, of LaGrange, Jack W. Sutton and wife, Evelyn Sutton, of Goldsboro, and R. Ronald Sutton and wife, Donna Sutton, of Henderson; two special granddaughters whom they raised, Pamela Smith of Seven Springs and Carol Heisley of St. Charles, Ill., and their husbands Curtis Smith and Michael Heisley; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Sutton of Goldsboro; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Sutton; a son, William Franklin Sutton; and two sisters, Clemmie Parrott and Ruth Sutton.

The family will receive friends at Rouse Funeral Home following the service tonight, and at other times at the home.
