DONALD W. TANNER

Retired Lt. Col. Donald "Don" Wayne Tanner, 70, of 102 Commonsgate Drive, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Born in Pittsburg, Kan., he was the son of the late John Hubert and Matilda Faye Wilson Tanner and brother of the late John M. Tanner. A retired lieutenant colonel with the United States Air Force, he was past president and secretary of the retired officers association and was past president of the Air Force Association. He was a member and past president of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club and former lieutenant governor of Kiwanis District #14.

Mr. Tanner is survived by his wife, Flo Tanner; one son, Jon Thomas Tanner of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Debra J. Norton of Herndon, Va., and Diane Renee Carpenter of Peachtree City, Ga.; and six grandchildren.

Family members will greet friends Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the home, 102 Commonsgate Drive, Goldsboro.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.
