TOM N. DEATON SR.

Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Tom N. Deaton Sr., 84, of 216 Glenwood Trail, died Monday at his home.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Louis Marriner Jr. will officiate.

Mr. Deaton was a native of Roberson County and was the son of the late George Deaton and Lydia Pittman Deaton. After retiring from the military, Mr. Deaton worked with the Boy Scouts of America, and also retired from that organization. He was a member of the Phoenix #8 Masonic Lodge, Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Rawls Deaton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Quita and Frank Clifton of Mount Olive, Janice and Allen Sutton of Chesapeake, Va., and Sandie and Rick Gambill of Mooresville; one son, Tom Deaton Jr. of Kernersville; and 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon 12:30 until 1:30 at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
