Myrtle Frances Strickland Oliver, 100, of Southwood Drive died Thursday at Mary Gran Nursing Center.

The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Richard Walker and the Rev. Farrell Miller officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithfield.

Born in 1904 in Nash County, Mrs. Oliver was the daughter of the late Cyrus Mahartney and Helen Frances Taylor Strickland. She was a homemaker and was the widow of James Robert Oliver.

She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Geraldine Godwin of Goldsboro; one son, Hugh Kendall Oliver of Clinton; one brother, W.L. Strickland of Smithfield; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren

The family received friends Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Hugh Kendall Oliver, 2501 King Road, Clinton, N.C. 28328.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2600 N. McCullen Road, Faison, N.C. 28341.
