GAYNELL HERRING

Gaynelle Batten Herring, 87, of Selma, died Thursday morning.

A Johnston County native, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Nettie Davis Batten and was the widow of Marvin E. Herring.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Micro First Baptist Church, where she was a life-long member. The Rev. Tim Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Herring is survived by two sons, Edward Lavon Herring of Goldsboro and Fred "Teeny" Herring of Selma; a daughter, Iris Herring Sullivan of Princeton; two b rothers, Joe Batten of Wilson and Edward Batten of Micro; sisters, Alberta B. Braswell of Warner Robbins, Ga., Voncile B. Boswell of Wilson and Laverne B. Lee of Garner; and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
