RUTH S. ODOM

PIKEVILLE -- Ruth Starling Odom, 76, of 3275 Nahunta Road, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Nahunta Friends Meeting with Ken Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Wayne County, Mrs. Odom was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Starling and was married to the late David Odom. She was retired from Barry's of Goldsboro and was a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting.

Mrs. Odom is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law David Lee and Lou Ellen Odom and Dennis and Diane Odom, all of Pikeville; one daughter, Vickie O. Hill and husband, Ronnie, of Rosewood; brothers, O. L. Starling of Goldsboro, Ray Hawley and Wreb Hawley of Garner and Junior Hawley of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Michael Odom and wife, Terrie, Jeffrey "Heavy" Odom, Debra Bedford and husband, Jamie, Melissa Hill, April Schaffer and husband, Rick, Tammy Parker and husband, Dale, and Jeremy Worrell; and six great-grandchildren, Shae Odom, Summer Scott, Tyson Bedford, Chance Bryant, Briegh Schaffer and Cody Parker.

She was preceded in death by her foster parents, Jesse Hawley Sr. and Thannie Hawley, known as Uncle Jesse and Aunt Thannie; a son Larry Odom and a daughter, Terry Ann O. Amerine; a grandson, Jesse Davis; and a sister, Marie Williams.

Pallbearers will be Michael Odom, Jeffrey Odom, Jeremy Worrell, Jamie Bedford, Dale Parker and Rick Schaffer.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of David and Lou Ellen Odom, 934 Old Kenly Road, Pikeville.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial donations made be made to the Nahunta Friends Meeting, 2529 NC 581 Hwy. North, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
