CLELL J. SORRELL

Clell Jomp Sorrell, 86, a resident of Countryside Living in Pikeville, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member. Dr. Don Sauls and Rev. Eddie McKeel will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Mrs. Sorrell was born in Wilson County on May 15, 1918, to the late Edward and Susan Tomlinson Jomp. She was retired from J.C. Penny Co. in Wilson.

She is survived by two sisters, Elsie Minshew of Snow Hill and Edith Richmond and husband, Ed, of Vienna, Va.; one son-in-law, Delton Davis; three grandchildren, Jackie Purcell and husband, Trip, Donna West and husband, James, and Danny Davis and wife, Robin; seven great-grandchildren, Alan, Jason, and Paul West, Skip and Laine Purcell, and Joannah and John Davis; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Braxton West.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Sorrell, and a daughter, Cleo Davis.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St., Fremont, and other times at the home of Delton Davis, 7433-B Hwy. 117 North, Fremont.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Faro Chapel P.F.W.B. Church, 3616 Big Daddy's Road, Fremont, N.C., 27830.
