JIMMY MANLEY

DUDLEY -- Jimmy Levon Manley, of 1310 Genoa Road, died Wednesday at his home.

He was born June 16, 1947, to Jessie Bell Manley Webb and the late Swindell Pemberton in Wayne County. He graduated from Carver High School of Mount Olive in 1965, where he met his wife Rosie Manley. Jimmy joined Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He later became a member of Piney Green Free Will Baptist Church in 2000, where he served an as usher and member of the Trustee Board.

Mr. Manley served in the United States Armed Forces, the National Guard, and also as a police officer in Washington, D.C., for several years. He later returned to Mount Olive as an insurance salesman; but found his place at Excell Linde Home Fashion in Goldsboro. He was transfered to Long Beach, Calif., as a plant manager for Excell Linge.; later returning to Excell Home Fashion in Goldsboro as a supervisor in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Manley; one son, Victor Manley (Chrishenna) of Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Tracey Manley-Redding (Joseph) of Long Beach, Calif., and Tonya Rudolph (Joseph) of Dudley; his mother Jessie Bell Manley Webb of Mount Olive; six brothers, Willie James Davis Jr. of Greensboro, Jacquess Dewayne Davis of Mount Olive, Darrell Webb of Greensboro, Swindell Pemberton Jr. (Juanita) of New London, Conn., Thomas Pemberton (Carolyn) of Wilmington, and Larry Pemberton (Janice) of New London, Conn.; six sisters, Constance Saafir (Michael) of Durham, Shannon Harris (Eddie) and Iris McCalop (Donnell) both of Mount Olive, Shelia Morrisson (James) and Ann Gavin (Raymond) both of Warsaw, and Adell Wright (Cerronnie) of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Pearsall; his father-in-law, James Pearsall; his sister-in-law, Jean Davis of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Manley II, Vyonie Manley and Joseph Redding, Jordan Redding of Long Beach, Calif., Nadia Randolph, Nikea Randolph, and Nicholas Randolph of Dudley; two step-grandchildren, Alfonzo Beale Jr. and Ardaja Beale of Long Beach, Calif.

Funeral service will be today 3:30 p.m. at the St. Mark F.W.B. Church in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Braxton Frederick officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Park.

Garris Funeral Home is serving the family.
