EMMA BURNEY

PRINCETON -- Emma Jane Haywood Burney, 78, formerly of Selma, died Friday night at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 19, 1925, in Roberson County; and was a member of Bailey Baptist Church.

Her husband, Howell Dorsey Burney, preceded her in death on February 27, 2002; along with her parents, Robert Francis and Emma Jean Pate Haywood, and one son, Edward Burney.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Roberts of Mount Olive and Paulette Wilson of Pine Level; one brother, George Haywood of Bladenboro; six grandchildren, Dwayne Roberts of Clinton, Dwight Roberts of Carolina Beach, Jamie Roberts of Goldsboro, Michael Wilson of Four Oaks, Sharon Wilson of the home, and Crystal Shorb of Sanford; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Monday at 6 p.m. at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Duane Caldwell and the Rev. Scott McCullen officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be Tuesday 11 a.m. in the Devotional Gardens in Warsaw with the Rev. Berry Boyd officiating.
